Laufen | Begehren, 2022

The video-installation laufen / begehren focuses on the relationship between man and nature. It shows my greatly slowed sprint across a field. The cultivated land confronts the viewer in a 10 x 5 m projection. Filmed by a drone parallel to the tractor tracks, the field appears as a surreal infinite life-size surface. On this, towering over the viewer, heroic landscape depiction, I sprint towards the viewer in slow motion. Feet sinking into the ground, you can watch my strength deplete more and more until I finally give up and end the sprint.

The video footage has been slowed down to 25 percent of the original speed. The body takes on distracting shapes in slow movements, which are full of energy in their tension. The data rate of the video is reduced, which is why flat artifacts appear in the detailed background and a color perspective is created. The perspective shows no horizon, and the depicted body seems to be embedded in a surreal environment.
